What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.

Aurora borealis (Northern lights).

Iceland – Next on my list of travel destinations. Before we continue let me give you a little snap shot of this list as it stands;

1. Antarctica – obvious reasons – PENGUINS! :D
2. Nepal – Climb to base camp
3. Ecuador – Get lost in the South American Jungle
4. Iceland / Greenland – I want to reach the top of the world….metaphorically of course
5. Argentina – learn to tango
6. Cambodia – to see Angkor Wat
7. Peru – the Inka trails and Machu Picchu
8. Papua New Guinea – to walk the Kokoda track
9. Japan – to visit my home town Kobe again.
10. Alaska – to see the Northern Lights

I really could keep going. If you have a look at the pics below – it’s not hard to imagine why. Point is, it’s something that has always been innate with me – to travel and explore the edges of the world.  I don’t care so much for the usual gap year trip of Europe and America. Not to say that they are not amazing and beautiful places. I just want to see what I can’t normally see. I want to be thrown in to wilderness and explore awe inspiring landscapes away from McDonalds and American tourists. I’m sorry – that isn’t very PC but for those of us who travel frequently – I know your nodding your heads. (Name a country starting with ‘U’ – American Man – “uh Utah?” – ‘nuf said!)

I’m still riding the high of my Jónsi experience – and now I have the itchy Iceland feeling – me wants to go NOW! So I did what I always do and plan my holiday even though I don’t have a dollar of savings. (Hey, who ever said that a memory isn’t currency?!) I’ve Googled the pronunciation of their capital city – Reykjavik, figured out how to fly there and what the highlights are. Bliss….I can always escape from my desk, without even moving.

Now to buy that lotto ticket….Enjoy
